Gail Arriola-Nickell - Artist Bio

During the last few years Gail Arriola-Nickell has created assemblage and sculptural symbols, ranging from larger-than-life punctuation pieces to small, sensuous and intimate canvases in her “No Peas, Just Pods” Series. Her work often reflects subtle references to themes centered on social justice issues; creating art with the intention to ask questions of the viewer or engage the viewer to ask questions, as a result of the work.

Gail Arriola-Nickell holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and a Bachelors of Arts in Art History from California State University, Los Angeles. During the last ten years, Gail has worked in the nonprofit environment with the goal of providing educational programs for children, youth, families and seeking to heighten both disability and cultural awareness. Her education has provided a rich resource for her creative expression which also includes, writing poetry and sharing stories through performance art.
